Privacy Policy — Pip Notes.

How the local-first Pip Notes app handles notes, images, voice dictation, reminders, backups and optional Google Drive synchronization.

Information we process

Pip Notes works without an account and stores notes privately on your device by default. Notes can include titles, rich text and formatting, drawings, checklists, labels, paper and font choices, website links, imported images, reminder dates, archive and favorite status, and organization settings. We use this information only to provide the note-taking features you choose. Idea Studio templates, writing suggestions, summaries and next-step prompts run on the device and do not send note text to an online AI service.

Images, voice tools and read-aloud

Android’s private Photo Picker lets you choose an image without giving Pip Notes broad access to your photo library. A private app copy of each selected image is stored with the note. Removing an image from a note does not delete the original from its source.

Voice dictation requests microphone permission only after you choose the Voice control. Pip Notes sends live audio to the speech-recognition service configured on your Android device and receives the resulting transcript. Depending on your device and settings, that provider may process speech locally or online under its own privacy terms. Pip Notes does not retain an audio recording. The separate Read control sends note text to your configured Android text-to-speech service.

Local backup, restore and sharing

You can create a portable .pipnotes backup containing your notes and private note-image copies, then save it through Android’s system file picker. Restore validates the selected backup and merges it without deleting newer notes. Android Share sends only the content you select to the recipient or app you choose. Files and shared content are then handled under the destination provider’s terms.

Optional Google Drive synchronization

Google Drive sync is off by default. If you choose to connect Google, Pip Notes requests the narrow drive.appdata permission and stores its versioned note backup in your Google Drive hidden app-data folder. Pip Notes cannot view or manage your other Drive files. We do not operate a server that receives or stores synced notes. Your Google account email, display name and profile image URL are used only to show the connected account and are stored locally on the device. Google processes Drive information under its own privacy policy.

Data use and sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, advertise with or profile your note content. Pip Notes has no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or Academy4Tech note-storage backend.

Permissions and security

Microphone permission is optional and used only while you actively dictate a note. Notification permission is requested only when you create reminders, and reboot access is used to reschedule them. Internet access supports optional Google Drive sync and any online processing performed by your configured speech service. Drive communication uses HTTPS/TLS; Drive backups are not additionally end-to-end encrypted by Pip Notes.

Deletion

Delete notes in Pip Notes and run Sync to update the cloud backup. Restored notes receive a new modification time so an older Drive deletion marker does not immediately remove them again. Disconnect Google in the Sync tab to revoke future Drive access; this does not delete local notes or the existing cloud backup. You can remove Pip Notes app data through your Google Account/Drive app-data controls, clear the app’s local storage or uninstall the app. Academy4Tech cannot remotely delete data stored only on your device.
